When you’re a photographer, editing can take up a huge chunk of your precious time. We all know that your time is money, and in these climates we all appreciate the extra £! When you’re spending hours upon hours pouring over images and editing them to your standard, it can be exhausting and repetitive to say the least. So, how do we reduce editing time with Photoshop? Photoshop Actions! 

What are Photoshop Actions?

Actions are a sequence of tasks that perform multiple steps and/or operations within an image or batch of images – automatically!

When it comes to Painterly Fine Art Photography, when turning a raw image into a Fine Art Portrait. The key is within the – sometimes lengthy, editing process. For instance, mastering the dodge & burn technique within photoshop can be a difficult burden! As can learning how to make subtle, yet effective changes to your subjects skin with frequency separation. If you don’t have the time right now to invest in learning how to fully understand and execute these techniques –  use photoshop actions! They’re a great way to achieve the painterly effect while simplifying your workflow and cutting down on your editing time.

Actions to help create a painterly look

To help budding Fine Art Photographers, I’ve created a Painterly Fine Art Workflow Actions Bundle. How to upload an action set to Photoshop

With any action set, it’s easy to get started! Follow these steps below and start creating masterpieces within Photoshop instantly! 

– Save the action set file in a convenient place. 

– Open the Window Menu and select ‘Actions’

– Select ‘Menu’ 

– From the pop-up, choose ‘Load Actions’

– Find your Actions folder and double click on the file within

– Click play on the action and watch your image come to life!
